Set your gaze upon Victoria Falls, the largest falls in the world. The waterfall is named in honor of Queen Victoria of Britain by a Scottish missionary, who perceived his discovery only as an obstacle to his preaching of Christianity to the whole of the African continent. Also called Mosi-oa-Tunya, "the smoke that thunders," by the local people, the falls extend 1,708 m (5,604 ft) across and 108 m (354 ft) in height. See the columns of spray from miles away plunging to the gorge below. To reach the falls you have to trek a road through the forest, so wear appropriate shoes. PutVictoria Falls into our Livingstone route builder app and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • We hired a private guide. He and a partner through Wild Horizons took us from Zimbabwe to Zambia. The falls rain like crazy.

  • I had an amazing experience with my partnerter at the majestic falls. Victoria falls is not dry as you can see from the pictures. The rain forest is still rainy too. If you go around sunset, you can get amazing pictures and watch the sun set a golden yellow. I still haven't gotten enough of the falls each encounter is different! Great food, good and affordable shops in the small busy town of Vic Falls. Everything you might need is well within reach. There is a good public transport system, to and from both Bulawayo and Harare. I hope you are planning your trip to the mighty falls... Enjoy!
  • Breathtaking! Come prepared with a poncho raincoat or get soaked. The water is warm and getting drenched is part of the fun. It is quite busy but there’s no rush and you can see and enjoy it all. Many friendly people and lots of opportunity to take photos.
