Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre
See animals rescued from poachers and learn more about wildlife at Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, a sanctuary with three distinct ecosystems for the rehabilitation of different animals. Opened in 1952 by the colonial authorities, the sanctuary supports baby elephants, cheetahs, chimps, and vervet monkeys, as well as avian species such as African fish eagles and giant kingfishers. You have the option to take part in the center's daily activities, or use the onsite accommodations for business conferences. Tour the center's herbarium with over 250 plant species commonly found in Ugandan homes, and learn about their medicinal properties. It was more than just a visit. My friends and I decided we should have a short safari retreat after many months of not traveling. We were missing the fun. Our behind the scene experience was conducted by a joyful woman by names of Rachel. She was such a darling when it came to sharing amazing stories about wildlife and how to handle the animals at the zoo. Thank you very much Rachel. My highlight was feeding the giraffes, touching the rhino and being in a close contact with the king of the jungle. Can't believe how scaring it is. Will indeed come back for behind the scene experience.

Very nice place to visit if you love animals and wild life. There is also a boat trip you can do along Lake Victoria. Definitely visit when you are in Kampala or Entebbe. Go a bit early, around 10 or 11 am before the crowds of people arrive in the afternoon. It will be more enjoyable. The entrance fee for non-African citizens is 15 USD.
