Nestled on Namibia's Atlantic coast and surrounded by the sand dunes of the vast Namib Desert, the resort town of Swakopmund enchants visitors with its distinct German colonial architecture and pleasant climate.
Step out of Swakopmund with an excursion to Flamingo lagoon in Walvis Bay--about 40 minutes away. There's much more to do: snap pictures at Swakopmund Jetty, admire the striking features of Hohenzollernhaus, look for gifts at Die Muschel, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Dune 7.
