Green City in the Sun

You're likely to visit Nairobi at least once on a trip to Kenya, as the sprawling city houses the country's international airport and remains the jump-off point for many tours and safaris.
Bring the kids along to Nairobi National Park and Giraffe Centre. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Nairobi: Machakos (Maanzoni Sanctuary & Machakos People's Park) and Mount Longonot (in Maai Mahiu). Spend the 19th (Wed) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. Spend the 21st (Fri) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. The adventure continues: stroll through Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, examine the collection at Karen Blixen Museum, take a memorable tour with Tours, and admire the striking features of African Heritage House.

The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time (CET) to East Africa Time (EAT), which is usually a 2 hour difference. In July, plan for daily highs up to 26°C, and evening lows to 16°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Tue) so you can catch the flight to Windhoek.

Located in the heart of the country, Namibia's capital city Windhoek receives a constant influx of tourists, in part because of its international airport.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Christuskirche and Namibia Craft Centre. Spend the 11th (Fri) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. The adventure continues: tour the pleasant surroundings at NamibRand Nature Reserve, see the interesting displays at Trans-Namib Railroad Museum, stop by Herrle & Herma Jewellers, and get a new perspective on nature at Geological Survey Museum.

Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 2 hours traveling from Nairobi to Windhoek. Traveling from Nairobi in August, expect little chillier with lows of 12°C in Windhoek. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Wed) to allow enough time to fly back home.
