Gaborone — 9 nights

Planned as the capital after Botswana gained independence in the 1960s, Gaborone quickly transformed into a bustling city and the country's commercial center.
Take a break from the city and head to Mokolodi Nature Reserve and Khutse Game Reserve. Pack the 23rd (Sun) with family-friendly diversions at Lion Park Resort. There's lots more to do: soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers, see human ingenuity at work at Gaborone Dam, take some stellar pictures from Kgale Hill, and appreciate the history behind Three Chiefs' Statues.
