Johannesburg — 20 nights

City of Light

Founded when gold was discovered in the area in the late 19th century, Johannesburg quickly grew into a bustling metropolis, South Africa's largest city and the region's economic hub.
Step out of the city life by going to Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary and Off-Road Tours. Visit Sammy Marks House and Regina Mundi for their historical value. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Johannesburg: Nizamiye Mosque (in Midrand), Nan Hua Temple (in Bronkhorstspruit) and Horseback Riding Tours (in Hartbeespoort). There's lots more to do: see the sights as you ascend with a climbing tour, tour the pleasant surroundings at Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, kick your exploration up a notch at Acrobranch Melrose, and ride a horse along Horseback Africa.

If you are flying in from The Netherlands, the closest major aiports are OR Tambo International Airport and Pilanesberg International Airport. In September, daily temperatures in Johannesburg can reach 30°C, while at night they dip to 12°C.
