Founded in the mid-19th century, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city, lost the status of the official capital but remains the country's commercial and financial center.
Explore Dar es Salaam's surroundings by going to Bagamoyo (Old Boma & Kaole Ruins). And it doesn't end there: head off the coast to Mbudya Island, laugh and play at Kunduchi Wet "N" Wild Water Park, examine the collection at National Museum of Tanzania, and take an in-depth tour of Village Museum.

To see other places to visit, reviews, maps, and more tourist information, read Dar es Salaam trip itinerary maker site.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Julius Nyerere International Airport and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. In October, daily temperatures in Dar es Salaam can reach 37°C, while at night they dip to 25°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Sat) so you can drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
