Create an itinerary including Cheetah's Rock
Interact with a cheetah, watch the feeding of a white lion, and shake

hands with ring-tailed lemurs at Cheetah's Rock, an animal sanctuary on

the east coast designed for close interaction with visitors. Run by a

licensed animal trainer, this establishment keeps rescued or donated

animals, making them available for a close-up view and personal

interaction in many cases. Highlights include rare striped hyenas, a

football-playing zebra, and young cheetah brothers received from a

CITES accredited conservation center. The place does not accept visitors

under 15, and you are advised not to wear any overpowering perfume or

aftershave that could irritate the animals. Reserve your place in advance

due to the attraction's popularity. Work out when and for how long to visit Cheetah's Rock and other Zanzibar City attractions using our handy Zanzibar City road trip website.

  • I booked my excursion from their web page, what was so easy. I get transfer from my hotel to sanctuary and we get to know better to place. I had change to feed hyenas, tigers, monkeys and so cute...

  • My advice for anyone who's traveling to zanzibar: leave cheetah's rock till the last day, because nothing will impress you after this wonderful visit! We thought it was expensive at first... WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! I've never imagined myself petting a cheetah or a tiger. The rush is amazing. I've never liked the zoo and the concept of sad animals in cages, cheetah's rock is the complete opposite. The animals are happy, well taken care of and friendly. The staff is adorable! You will have the time of your life. Last but not least, when they offer you champagne... take it! It's a very smart move and you will definitely need it.
  • It was amazing. Don’t go here expecting a zoo, but you can really get close to some animals you would otherwise never encounter (especially taking photos sitting next to a real cheetah, touching its fur in the process is very unique) and you learn a lot about the sad stories of some of the animals. The entire team is really nice, they really care about the animals and the whole project is funded through visitors‘ fees. The tour is absolutely worth the price tag, the animals are cared for in a really nice manner and the aim to rescue animals and give them a place to live a good life (and perhaps be released when they are ready) is really worthy of support. If you want to experience wildlife and help animals in need, this is the place to go - you’ll leave with a lot of new experiences and a feeling of having done something completely new.
