Create an itinerary including Forodhani Gardens
Situated between sea and city, Forodhani Gardens hosts a bubbling social and culinary hub frequented by locals and visitors alike. Established as a silver jubilee park in 1936 in honor of Sultan Khalifa, the gardens underwent renovation in 2010 to host three cafes overlooking the bay, numerous walkways, and scenic landscaping. Visit the gardens in the evening to experience its bustling food market, mingling the tastes and smells of Zanzibar, including delicacies of seafood, cassava, and sweet potato soups. Expect crowds at night; visit by day for a more relaxed atmosphere and views of the water and islands beyond. • Nice atmosphere and great place to pass by to see the evening food market - but the food was truly horrible and, having realised to late that it involves haggling, totally overpriced.

  • Beautiful park but litter everywhere! Everyone eats and dumps trash wherever they like.. increase some bins.. food is good. But a nice place to sit and relax.
  • Full of people selling street food, photographers, hawkers, people gathered around areas where locals are jumping in to the sea, lots of stuff going on, was quite nice. 100 times better organised, well lit, needs more bins, less vehicles running through, very nice ambience.
