Create an itinerary including Olduvai Gorge
A key feature in the timeline of ancient human history, Olduvai Gorge has witnessed millions of years of evolution. Cutting into the Great Rift Valley of East Africa, the deep ravine is widely considered one of the world's most important sites of paleoanthropology and lies within a wider World Heritage Site. Since Mary and Louis Leakey first began excavating here in the mid-20th century, research programs have discovered some of the first used stone tools and traces of social and communal activity. Delve into your ancient ancestral routes, touring the onsite gorge museum and taking a guided walk around this world-famous portion of Serengeti landscape. • We stopped on our way to the Ngorongoro crater to learn about the area. Fun educational area and well studied staff that did presentation of the gorge and the history.

  • We stopped here to see the Gorge and enjoyed the museum and facts about the fossils, etc. The tour guide shared lots of info and then sent us on our way to explore. We found some unique souvenirs...

  • It was beautiful: The history and the landscape. Highly recommend
  • The new museum is really well done. They have a lot more information with great displays. The amphitheater is a great place to get a small lecture on Olduvai, backdropped with the gorge itself.
