When you visit East London, take a walk through the very beautiful Queens Park Zoological Gardens where you will find the East London Zoo. The Zoo is spread over 10 hectares and visitors can enjoy strolls through the indigenous and exotic vegetation (which includes numerous Cycads) and spend some time reflecting at the fountain which boasts a collection of bright koi fish. Grab some raw peanuts for sale at the Kiosk of the zoo, which you can feed to a few of the various animals. Food and drinks are on sale at the kiosk where you can sit, relax and enjoy a tasty snack. Special night tours and behind the scenes tours can be arranged with advanced notice.
The zoo is managed and financially supported by Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM).This outstanding zoo is home to a wide range of mammals, as well as numerous birds and reptiles. You can expect to see Tigers, White and Brown Lions, Brown Bears, a Giraffe, a Jaguar, a Camel, Springbok, Chimpanzees, Chacma Baboons, other small monkeys, Ducks, Finches, Parrots and Emus can be spotted as well as a range of Lizards, Anacondas, a Crocodile and a Leopard Tortoise.
As visitors wander through the Zoo they will see numerous free-flying birds, such as Hornbills, Flycatchers, Goshawks, Giant King Fishers etc. to name but a few.
Visitors are advised to bring some bread with to feed the many ducks and fish in the large pond.
The entrance fees are very reasonable:
R39.00 for Adults
R24.00 for Children & Pensioners
R15.00 for Scholars
Additionally, the Zoo is accessible to wheelchairs and prams. There is also a private baby room where moms can feed and change their babies.

Its a thrilling experience for kids and anybody who's never seen some wild animals in person. However, some animals are none existent currently (maybe will come back in future not sure, the zoo also seem to be under some works currently Inside there is a kiosk for a couple of snacks at an affordable price. They also have a private vanue you could hire out for a personal event. Current Prices Adult- 59 Children -38 Pensioners -38 Scholars in group -24 No pets allowed or teasing the animals.

The WORST experience we had, a lot of the cages are empty. The ponds are dirty with green water. Many of the animals or caged alone with no other animals of the same species. The animals have no energy for people. There are no boards or signs to guide the tourists. It is in its worst appearance. A definite waste of our time and money
