Started in the early 1970s as a project to move threatened animals to a sheltered, largely inaccessible place and protect them from predators and poachers, the successful park now supplies rare animals to other parks in Namibia. See 200 different species of birds, rock stratum millions of years old, and game such as rhinos and giraffes.
