Apart from the usual displays expected at such facilities, Museu De Historia Natural de Maputo exhibits some rather spooky dioramas with taxidermy specimens, as well as a collection of bleached elephant fetuses. The displays occupy a charming colonial building, originally built for a school but turned into a museum in 1933. The museum also features a small ethnology exhibit. • Verry smart arrange all pieces of Museum....Nice place.....Must visit if you are in Maputo!
  • The museum was a very fun stop with our two little children. The animal display was very exciting for them and being able to stand near the wild animals and get a feel for their actual size was a big experience. If you aren't into animals there isn't a whole lot else to see, though. There are some great specimens of skeletons too. I'd say that for what you pay for entrance you definitely get you money's worth. It is a tad outdated and the exhibits are a bit old but it still makes for a fun trip.
