Create an itinerary including Tsimbazaza Zoo
Get a glimpse of Madagascar's abundant wildlife at Tsimbazaza Zoo, a zoological and botanical garden. Built on what was once a sacred place where children were forbidden, the zoo removed the ancient taboo and now offers a wide variety of educational entertainment for the youngest. See the rare aye-aye--a small nocturnal lemur--giant tortoises, colorful birds, and strange reptiles. Also on site you'll find a small museum with animal skeletons, including those of extinct mega-vertebrates, that houses the bones of a 3 m (10 ft) tall elephant bird and its basketball-size egg shells, as well as those of pygmy hippos and giant lemurs. You can also tour some 80,000 plant specimens in Madagascar's largest herbarium here. Tsimbazaza Zoo is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

  • Since many decades, this is the historical Malagasy zoo, the only one for many years. It is quite easy to visit, in town, and if you have no time for going aroud the country, you can still see...

  • The zoo with the botanical gardens is not well kept.Even the local exhibits are limited. They don't show any Chemeleons, Gaekkos, Flying Foxes, or Mongoose.

  • It's a fun place if you don't want to get out to one of the national parks or reserves and just see some animals and the variety of plants Madagascar has right here in Tana! Locals basically go in for free, we opted not to have a guide and just roamed around on our own. We had a fun time on their manual ferris-wheel... it was a person jumping on it and pulling it down by force, so fun!
  • Tsimbazaza is one of the only zoos in the whole Madagascar, which gives it a great reputation, But in a matter of reception, services, and guidance, they don' really excel, But in another hand i definitly recommend to go there for you, or for your family/friends.
