Rova - Le Palais de la Reine
Admire images of people from everyday life carved into the stone walls of Rova - Le Palais de la Reine, part of a royal complex. Built for Queen Ranavalona in the 17th century, this large landmark building perches on the top of Analamanga Hill, with an excellent view of the surroundings. The original wooden pavilion that stood here was consumed by fire, and the current stone structure dates from 1864. Your entrance fee includes a guide, who will inform you about the history of the site. Stroll through the scenic flower gardens dotted with interesting statues, step inside the stone church, and check out the cannons on display. Use our Antananarivo trip itinerary planner to add Rova - Le Palais de la Reine and other attractions to your Antananarivo vacation plans.

This should be a most visited King palace in Madagascar, in central town but not safe to go there by foot. You must need local guide and inside some modification or this should be intact!!!

We went there yesterday but discovered it is presently closed to the public due to renovations. However there are local guides who can give you a tour around the outside so that you can look over the fence as they recount some of the beautiful history of the palace and it’s queens and kings to you.

An amazing place! Offers the best views of Tana. Definitely catch the sunset from here. Guides are available outside and will take you for a one hour ish tour of the various palaces in the complex, the church and the memorials. Definitely worth a visit especially to see the ship shaped palace construction style.
