One of the largest mosques on the continent, Conakry Grand Mosque resulted from a collaboration between the first president of the country and a Saudi Arabian king. The 1982 mosque features four slender minarets and can accommodate 12,500 visitors inside, plus another 12,500 on the esplanade. it is a big mosque that is very busy with locals, as most of them are muslims. To get there ask for a taxi at your hotel front desk.

Currently in repairs and officially not possible to visit. The guards on site can let you in, but only after paying up considerable money. We decided to just tour the outside.
