The museum's impressive collection of artifacts includes items from the Stone Age, with bronze heads, wood carvings, traditional textiles, colorful beads, gold weights, head stools, and various pottery items among the most important objects to see. Items from other African countries obtained through trade and gifts are also on display here. Tour a contemporary sculpture collection scattered around the building and its spacious yard. • Still closed as of December 29, 2019. Idris informer is there’s no funds and plan for reopening. He did give us a nice tour of the sculpture garden that took about 30 minutes.

  • The National Museum Gallery was recently opened and this adds up to places to visit in Accra. Big car park and beautiful landscape. You can do a walk in and have a guided tour. It's best to call to inform if you are moving in a large group. Enjoy the space.
  • We went to the National Museum today, and it was really interesting and a good Sunday activity (especially since many markets and activities are closed on Sunday)! They recently renovated and reopened a week ago. A free guided tour was included in the price, which definitely was a huge plus. It’s mostly an anthropological history of the country, plus some beautiful artwork and overview of current traditions.
