Create an itinerary including Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids
A World Heritage Site, Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids once provided the final resting place for the pharaohs and nobles of Memphis. The ensemble of pyramids and mastabas (tombs made of mud bricks) covers a huge area of the desert--this site was used as a burial ground for around 3,000 years. The main structures include the Pyramid of Djoser, constructed by the royal architect Imhotep--it's possibly the oldest intact stone building in the world. • We were there very early in the morning when it was less busy and were able to go inside the other smaller pyramids. Impressive artwork and. You can combine with a visit to Giza but this one is the oldest Pyramid.
  • This is less touristy but same vibe. This was the first location where I realized all the pictures on the wall used to be in color. It must have been quite a sight to see everything in color. Also observe how light enters these structures and hits the door.
