Trip Planner: Africa / Uganda / Central Region / Entebbe / Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre
See animals rescued from poachers and learn more about wildlife at Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, a sanctuary with three distinct ecosystems for the rehabilitation of different animals. Opened in 1952 by the colonial authorities, the sanctuary supports baby elephants, cheetahs, chimps, and vervet monkeys, as well as avian species such as African fish eagles and giant kingfishers. You have the option to take part in the center's daily activities, or use the onsite accommodations for business conferences. Tour the center's herbarium with over 250 plant species commonly found in Ugandan homes, and learn about their medicinal properties. Getting in physical contact with our family members (hominidae) is a truly unique experience. It is sad to realize that the illegal trade in chimps continues, and places like the UWEC are required...

Its an amazing experience especially for the young ones who have never seen the animals (birds, snakes, big cats and much more). The children loved it! I wish all the animals could be paired though and have bigger enclosures (I know this takes loads of money). There's also slides and swings for the little ones once having a look is done. Oh and we had a fun camel ride
Nice place to relax and take a wild walk. Most popular animals can be found here. Friendly zoo guides, some shops with relevant merchandise are available as well. Unfortunately, the reception isn't so wooing. Customer service was wanting by the time we visited.
