Regarded as the fourth-oldest town in South Africa, Graaff-Reinet represents a well-preserved historic Dutch colonial settlement, set 750 (2,460 ft) above sea level on the banks of the Sundays River.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Cat Conservation Trust and St James the Great Anglican Church. Get outdoors at Camdeboo National Park and Mountain Zebra National Park. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Graaff-Reinet: Nieu-Bethesda (Dustcovers & The Owl House). And it doesn't end there: tour the pleasant surroundings at Valley of Desolation, see the interesting displays at Urquhart House Museum, pause for some photo ops at Andries Pretorius Monument, and admire the masterpieces at Hester Rupert Art Museum.

For more things to do, where to stay, maps, and more tourist information, refer to the Graaff-Reinet tour itinerary planner.

If you are flying in from Ukraine, the closest major aiport is George Airport. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) to allow time to travel back home.
