Founded when gold was discovered in the area in the late 19th century, Johannesburg quickly grew into a bustling metropolis, South Africa's largest city and the region's economic hub.
Get out of town with these interesting Johannesburg side-trips: Pretoria (Voortrekker Monument, National Library of South Africa, &more), Zipline (in Rustenburg) and Bounce (in Fourways). Spend the 2nd (Thu) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. Spend the 14th (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour.
