Johannesburg

City of Light

Founded when gold was discovered in the area in the late 19th century, Johannesburg quickly grew into a bustling metropolis, South Africa's largest city and the region's economic hub.
Venture out of the city with trips to Brits (Ukutula Conservation Center & Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre), Hartbeespoort (Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary & Hartbeespoort Dam - Snake and Animal Park) and Pretoria (Union Buildings, Pretoria National Botanical Garden, &more). Spend the 13th (Mon) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. Spend the 21st (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at Apartheid Museum, wander the streets of Maboneng Precinct, get engrossed in the history at Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct, and don't miss a visit to South Western Townships.
