Founded when gold was discovered in the area in the late 19th century, Johannesburg quickly grew into a bustling metropolis, South Africa's largest city and the region's economic hub.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Apartheid Museum and Constitution Hill Human Rights Precinct. Spend the 12th (Wed) spotting exotic species with a safari tour. The adventure continues: take a stroll through Maboneng Precinct, contemplate the long history of Mandela House, and try your luck at Emperors Palace.
