#5 of 13 in Things to do in Serengeti National Park
Part of Serengeti National Park, Grumeti River serves as a safari area known for animal river crossings during great migrations of large herbivores. Basks of crocodiles, herds of hippos, zebras, buffalos, lions, giraffes, and black-and-white colobus monkeys are among the many wildlife species native to the area. Migrations usually take place from late May to early July, but safari tours in open-sided vehicles are offered year-round. The area is best accessed by small light aircraft, and there are many small airfields nearby. • Because of the water you can see several animals. People come here to see hippos, elephants and especially crocodiles as it's one of the few place in Serengeti where you can see these animals.  more »
