Shaba National Reserve, Samburu National Reserve

#5 of 16 in Nature in Rift Valley Province
Must see · National Park · Nature / Park
Shaba National Reserve in northern Kenya links with two other preserves to form a large protected area for African wildlife. The semi-desert landscape features grasslands, woodlands, and forests near water sources. There are regular sightings of elephants and lions here, and you have a good chance of seeing Kenya's "northern five"--oryx, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, and lesser kudu. In fact, the preserve is known for harboring the endangered Grevy's zebra and the rare Williams's lark.
