From the first time I contacted DK Grand I was greeted with the upmost care and professionalism. Lynda (their North American representative) and guided us through every detail of planning our first Safari and honeymoon, she made sure we were well prepared for every aspect of the trip. We found it very helpful having a local contact to liaise with and she had a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding East Africa. Fast forward to the day we arrived in Nairobi and we were greeted at the airport by our wonderful guide, driver and Lillian. The next day before we started our tour we also had the pleasure of finally meeting Daniel who gave us our lovely Safari hats, welcome package and allowed us to ask any last minute questions we might of had. The Safari itself was a dream come true! Our guide, Dennis was incredibly knowledgeable and could answer any question I threw at him (and there were many). Our driver, Stafford was also a wonderful companion on the journey and the vehicle was strong, comfortable and reliable (unlike others we saw in some of the parks). We felt safe and well taken care of the entire time we were on our trip. A little note about accommodations - we allowed DK to pick our lodges and we were incredibly happy with all of them. Most had spectacular views and they all had delicious food. It was also one of our birthdays during the middle of the Safari and DK arranged a cake and song from the staff to celebrate, which was a lovely surprise. Last but not least I must mention the animals. Wow! We were on the edge of our seats almost the entire time. I didn’t expect to see half of what we did and were incredibly lucky to have spotted all of the big 5 by the second day. I think it’s best to not go with too many expectations but either way you will be pleasantly surprised! I could continue to write more about how wonderful our trip and DK Grand are but you should just go and find out for yourself. They are number 1 for a reason - so seriously, don’t book with anyone else!
