Join picnicking locals at Central Park, a recreational park amid a high-rise development in the downtown area. Nairobi residents flock here on weekends and holidays, or for a lunch break during the week, taking advantage of its expansive lawns and well-maintained gardens dotted with shade. A large marble-clad monument erected in 1988 shows the lowering of the British flag and raising of the Kenyan one, marking the 25th anniversary of independence. Meanwhile, a children's playground at the park's end has a wide range of facilities for kids to play on. Crowded, little boats, horse back riding and more .. Very busy .. Unfortunately very dirty at times. If you are a tourist you should at least walk around here once .. It is safe and very interesting..... more »
Generally it is a good place. It gives a clear view of most of the tallest towers in the city, the environment is clean and serene. There are special rates for students as long as you present a student id. The Central park is also an ideal venue for open-air group meetings. However, I dislike the fact that you have to pay at the entrance and pay again for you to enter the museum.
Central park is a recreational area with a good canopy cover for resting and playground. Compared to Uhuru Park just across the road, it's more chilled as there are no recreational facilities like merry-go-round. This makes it more of a place to rest, and it is less crowded
