Chapel of the Tablet, Axum

#5 of 9 in Historic Sites in Axum
Shrouded in mystery, Chapel of the Tablet is said to be the resting place of the Ark of the Covenant, with the tablets on which the Ten Commandments were inscribed. There is quite a bit of controversy as to weather this is true, as only the convent’s guards have access to the interior, and the tablets have not been seen for a long time. The church’s exterior features wooden windows, light grey brick walls, and a central dome with a cross sitting atop. This attraction is also located adjacent to Ethiopia’s most important church, the previous resting location of the tablets.
